Golconda Fort, Hyderabad
The name for this 11th century fort seems to have originated from the Telugu words ‘Golla’ and ‘Konda’, which translates to ‘Shepherd's Hill’. The Golconda Fort boasts of unique acoustics – wherein the sound of a handclap at the entrance gate can be heard even at the highest point of the fort, which is atop a hill. Truly an architectural marvel!
